The Telephone Page
I’ve always liked old telephones but I believe it was only in 2024 that my autism fully reconfigured itself to properly include telephones and telephone switching systems. As such I’ve spent a lot of time reading and hearing about them, with a particular focus on the surprisingly underdocumented Swedish switching systems (surprising because L.M. Ericsson switching systems connected much of the world).
My current primary obsession is the Ericsson AGF, famous for its 500-line selector (of which I have Two Of Them so far), but other systems are fascinating too. I can thank/blame the Connections Museum in Seattle for this autism reconfiguration, though I was admittedly very predisposed to it. Shoutouts to Sarah for being cool and answering my possibly annoying questions.
Last I counted, I had too many telephones, and I believe that’s still the case. It will likely remain the case for a very long time as I intend to acquire more. Currently the vast majority of my telephones are Swedish as that’s what I can easily purchase, but I will probably start adding international phones at some point.
The dream/delusion is to one day run a mostly functional Swedish telephone museum.
I have a phone connected to PhreakNet, my number there is 234-4510, but please keep in mind that my time zone is CET (UTC+1) and I typically like to sleep at night.
